Residential water and sewer charges are billed every two months on the Alectra bill; commercial accounts are monthly. Multiply consumption in cubic metres by the combined rate. For example, 20 cubic metres at $5.3694 is $107.388 before any bill-specific rounding or separate charges.
The combined rate covers water purchased from York Region, wastewater treatment, and local operations and maintenance. Water used outside still attracts the combined wastewater charge because the city recovers the regional charges through this rate.

Common residential service requests
Curbside water turn-off and turn-on for internal plumbing work costs $195.50 during regular field hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. After-hours service is $295. These service fees exclude tax. Bookings with less than 24 hours’ notice have no guarantee that isolation can be completed.
A missed appointment or refused meter access is listed at $208.50. Suspected inaccurate meters can be tested for a fee; the fee is reimbursed if the result falls outside the manufacturer’s accuracy range. Damage through freezing, misuse or negligence has separate replacement charges. A residential stormwater fee of $56 appears on the final property-tax bill, not as the same consumption calculation.
