Bring Your Skills, Compassion, and Team Spirit to Town & Country Animal Hospital
Town & Country Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Assistant who takes pride in providing a high standard of patient and client care.
This dynamic role combines hands-on patient care, clinical assistance, appointment support, and client communication. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians, RVTs, patients, clients, and fellow team members while helping keep each day running smoothly.
If you’re organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and always willing to jump in where your team needs you most, we’d love to meet you.
Why Our Veterinary Assistants Love It Here
- Play an important role in both patient care and the client experience
- Work closely with veterinarians and RVTs
- Build experience across clinical, patient care, and client service responsibilities
- Put your animal handling and restraint skills to work
- Be part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Continue developing your veterinary skills and knowledge
- Take ownership of responsibilities while still having a team behind you
- Make a meaningful difference for animals and the people who love them
What Our Veterinary Assistants Do
No two days look exactly alike, and flexibility is an important part of this position. You’ll support our patients and veterinary team while also helping clients receive friendly, professional service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Make friendly and professional outbound calls to veterinary clients
- Assist with gentle and appropriate animal restraint
- Follow and update the appointment system to help keep the schedule running smoothly
- Answer incoming calls during business hours
- Respond to client inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Respond to appointment requests submitted through the hospital website
- Assist with X-rays
- Prepare vaccines
- Assist with note-taking
- Schedule rechecks, annual exams, surgeries, and other appointments
- Provide exceptional client and patient care during every interaction
- Step into different responsibilities throughout the day as needed to support the team
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines compassion with organization, communication, and the ability to stay composed in a busy veterinary environment.
Required Training & Knowledge
- Minimum of one year of veterinary experience or relevant healthcare administration experience
- High school diploma
- Computer proficiency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional qualifications include:
- Previous customer service experience, preferably in a veterinary or healthcare setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong understanding of animal handling and restraint
- Empathy and compassion for clients and their animal companions
- Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly
- Confidence working independently while remaining a collaborative team member
- Familiarity with veterinary software is a plus
- Flexibility and a willingness to jump in where needed
Most importantly, you’ll share our love for animals - because caring for them is at the heart of everything we do.
The Extras You’ll Actually Feel
This role gives you the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of the hospital rather than being limited to a single responsibility. One moment you may be helping with patient restraint or X-rays, and the next you may be communicating with a client or helping keep the appointment schedule on track.
That variety makes teamwork especially important. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities while recognizing when it’s time to jump in and lend a hand.
Bring your compassion, organization, and positive attitude, and you’ll have opportunities to continue building your skills while supporting patients, clients, and your veterinary team.
